Selfridges marks the dot

30 Aug

For the next 8 weeks Selfridges on Oxford Street has been taken over by a gigantic 24 window display designed by the 84 year old, world renowned artist Yayoi Kasuma.
The collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Kasuma is being showcased in the concept store until October 19th, with such offerings as her signature pumpkins in bag form, along with classic Louis Vuitton pieces like the speedy stamped with the artists trademark dots.

Creative director of the brand, Marc Jacobs, met Yayoi Kasuma in Tokyo in 2006. This can be seen in the 2008 Louis Vuitton & Marc Jacobs documentary in which she customised and signed an LV bag with the distinctive dotty pattern that we are seeing take over 400 Oxford Street this week.
